Since we last talked, a lot has happened. Surprised? Wait...are you new here?
The weather has been absolutely beautiful around here, and we're loving every minute of it. It rained a bit last night, but that didn't affect us at all...unless you count the fact that today was about 10 degrees cooler and very pleasant after the rain moved through.
Without further ado, I present our week (mostly) in pictures:
Racing Da to the beach for a swim before dinner on Monday |
Lots of walking, and I am super stoked about this little skort she's wearing: $1 at Goodwill. |
More walking (and stealing Da's Gandalf staff). |
Plenty of time at the lake, and Tweety loves to go too. |
Exploring the garden where Momma went to school. |
Very serious business. |
In her defense, that hosta was screaming out for a good fliddling. |
Nobody here but us chickens. |
My love and me. D'aww. |
Look! Da can fly! Oh, wait...he's doing jumping jacks. |
She joined in after a second, and it was disgustingly adorable. |
When she tired of jumping jacks, she decided Da could use a good flidding too. |
I just can't believe how big she's getting. |
Unfortunately, we have a big, beautiful, buxom bulldog who is a bit under the weather at the moment. Bubbles hasn't been feeling well since yesterday, and she's very lethargic, moving from her bed to Sookie's and back. She wasn't eating at all yesterday, and then she started walking funny. It seems her tummy is bothering her again. This happens from time to time, and the vet said it's something that just has to pass on its own, but it's just so gut-wrenching to see your kid in pain.
I'm happy to report that she ate and drank a bit today, and she was even able to go out and come back in through the doggy door instead of being escorted through the back service door of the garage: all good signs. It seems she's on the mend, but please keep her in your thoughts. The poor kiddo just isn't herself.
On top of all that walking and swimming, we've gotten a lot of good stuff done in the last week as well. I ended up putting in a good chunk of overtime, including four hours on Saturday morning. I've been working OT every day since April 7, and it's nice to have some extra cash saved up for the summer.
Grocery shopping is done for the next two weeks (man, is that a good feeling).
Our family membership at the area health club and pool is finalized. All I have to say on that one is thank goodness for scholarships. Lucky, lucky, lucky...and we appreciate every little bit. Now we have a place to take The Princess to swim year-round, and I can continue my daily workouts (more on that at a later date), and The Hubbs has his run of the machines any time he wants to go.
Sounds like we'll be making reservations for our first camping trip within the next couple of weeks, and I'm super stoked about that. There's a lovely state park about 25 minutes from home with a great campground and lots of wonderful trails. We'll be able to take The Girls there during the day and bring them home for the night if it doesn't seem like they're up for roughing it with us in the great outdoors. I can't wait. The Princess and I have been camping together, but this will be the first time getting The Hubbs out there.
Oh, and Tuesday is The Princess's last day of regular school. She starts summer school at the special education district on Wednesday and will go through July 2nd. When fall comes around, she's changing schools again, though The Fabulous Mrs. G. will still be with her...thank goodness. The new school is closer to home, and they're really hoping to have a permanent place there. All this moving around is tough on Mrs. G. and her staff, not to mention the kids. I'm just so glad they've been able to keep the core staff as a constant, because I really believe that makes all these transitions so much easier on the kids.
Zoinks...seems I'm writing a novel. Guess it's time to pull the rip-cord.
See ya next week!
Daisy

ReplyDeleteLove your blogs and the opportunity to see you guys and hear what's going on, even when our lives are crazy busy too. Love you and big hugs to my Dee. Poor baby!
ReplyDeleteUgh, that stinks they have to move The Princess's school again but like you said, at least Mrs. G. is coming with so I'm sure that makes it easier on the kids. At least one part of their schooling will be consistent.
